As a Grandmother of 6, I have found that teaching children to love and care for pets is a great way to teach them responsibility. I used to raise larger breed rabbits but I have found that the Holland Lop makes a wonderful pet. Their great personality and small size makes them easier to handle. They love to play and are very affectionate.
